Optical Collusion is Robin Burke's #LiveVisuals creative alterego, a
longterm Irish resident of Berlin. A musician since his teen years
generally playing a modular synthesizer, drone boxs with effects and
bass guitar.
With the outbreak of the Covid19 epidemic, he suddenly had the time
& patience to dive into something he'd always wanted to do but felt
he didn't have the time for: creating video feedback style visuals. This
deepdive helped him to manage the isolation many people suddenly had to
adapt to.
With the resumption of live concerts & performances, Robin often
plays live, music or visuals, but in late 2023 has started to perform
live as a solo AV (audiovisual) artist.
Robin has had the good fortune to work closely with Videosynth designer
Bastien Lavaud of Syntonie, first helping with proof reading DIY
instructions and later joining Bastien at the Syntonie stand at the
Superbooth synth fair in Berlin and at the 2024 Machina Bristonica in
Bristol, U.K
Jan Willem Hagenbeek has been manufacturing musical instruments full-time since 2012 under the name Ginkosynthese, but he also performs live under the name of Colloid. His live sets are always unexpected and consist of improvisation with modular synthesizers. His music is difficult to classify and can range from deep soundscapes to danceable broken beats.
