The project was initiated by two friends, Michał Ziń and Stach Szumski, in 2020 in Karkonosze Mountains. The inspiration for the live duo came from two glitch boxes created by Kacper Ziemianin aka CTRL FreQ. These devices, enclosed in Cuban cigar boxes, set in motion the machine of improvised noise dialogue between the two friends. As time passes, the tools and their approach undergo a continuous morphing acceleration. Their dialogue combines elements of flashcore, noise, and granular doom jazz, as well as many other, more difficult to define shades of music genres. Simultaneously, they are developing the macro photographic insight into the micro-ecosystems of the Sudeten lichens, which led them to the name of the project - Chrobotek (English equivalent Cladonia).
