Cinema of the Dam'd is honored to participate in the SOTU Festival. This year's theme is "infinity," so we're showing Shane Carruth's sublime sci-fi puzzler UPSTREAM COLOR (2013).

Kris (Amy Seimetz) is kidnapped and hypnotized by a thief who forces her to ingest a mysterious parasite, before taking all of her money. A year later, her life in tatters, Kris meets Jeff (Shane Carruth), a fragile young man with whom she shares a secret bond. Shot for just $50,000, Shane Carruth's low budget experimental feature is a beautiful and unsettling puzzle box of a film, unlocking new mysteries with each startling image. Harnessing the paranoia of a conspiracy thriller with the intimacy of an indie romance, Carruth crafts a metaphysical horror film about the problem of free will.
