FETTER (USA/NL) is the vocal drone-pop project of Amsterdam-based multimedia artist and musician, Jessica Tucker. Defined in English as shackle or restraint, FETTER rejects the common notion that “music sets us free” and instead embraces the ways music can reveal how free we are not by offering alternative forms of arrest.
FETTER is a one-woman pop-industrial angel choir, building dreamy soundscapes layer by layer, with droning, whining synth lines and ghostly vocal loops that coo and gnaw. Her songs swell and degenerate, relentless and enveloping. Carried along by persistent synthetic beats, her strong voice navigates through a plasticized fog, soothing, yet menacing.
